Which shaft? A quick guide
  • KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 Black 125 S (Gabe Standard)Built for wedges. Highest launch and most spin of the range, so the ball stops. 125 g stiff. Right for most golfers and the one Gabe plays.
  • KBS Tour 120 S, Chrome or Black (+$20 Black)The classic Tour iron shaft. Mid launch, mid spin, firm tip for control. Choose it to match the KBS Tour shafts in your irons, or for full shots inside 100 yards where you want a flatter flight.
  • KBS Tour 110 R+, Chrome or Black (+$20 Black)Same profile as the 120 S but lighter and a touch softer (R+ sits between regular and stiff). For moderate swing speeds, seniors, or anyone who finds 125 g heavy.
  • KBS TGI Graphite 90 or 100 g (+$65)Graphite with the KBS Tour bend profile: same feel, lighter, less vibration. For golfers moving from steel, hand or elbow trouble, or slower speeds. 90 g is smoother, 100 g closer to steel.
  • Ladies KBS TGI Graphite 60 (+$65)The lightest option. Helps slower swing speeds get the ball up and keeps the club easy to swing.
  • Other shaft (+$25 steel, +$65 graphite)Want something not listed? Pick Other, tell us brand, model, weight and flex, and we will source it and build to it.

THE SURGEON™ 5612. Busts through the grain. Easy to hit.

A forged, CNC-milled 56° wedge with 12° of bounce, designed by two-time PGA Tour winner and Tour short-game coach Gabriel Hjertstedt for golfers who chunk chips, fight the grain, and want one wedge they can trust from sand, rough and fairway. Built to order with a chrome head and your choice of KBS shaft.

The shots that cost you strokes

You know them. The chip into the grain where the leading edge catches and the ball goes three feet. The fat pitch off a tight lie. The fluffy bunker where the club buries and the ball stays put. On Bermuda, on wet turf, on soft sand, a low-bounce wedge digs. Digging is where the double bogeys come from.

What the 5612 does about it

  • Grain busting. 12° of bounce means the sole skids through the grain instead of catching in it. Hit it a little heavy and the club still comes through. Easy to hit.
  • 56° of loft. Enough height to stop it, enough roll to judge it. The everyday loft for chips, pitches, bunker shots and full shots inside 100 yards.
  • Milled micro-grooves, right to the edge of the face. USGA conforming. Spin on chips and pitches, so the ball checks instead of running out.
  • Flattened heel. Glides through soft, fluffy sand and under the ball. Standard bunker shots become routine.
  • Toe relief. Open the face and the leading edge stays down, so you can still play the higher shot when you need it.
  • Forged carbon steel, CNC-milled. The same construction as the 6109, for a soft, solid feel.

Make birdies. Save pars. Confidence in your hands.

Who it's for

  • Golfers who play on Bermuda or any grainy grass
  • Golfers who chunk chips and pitches
  • Golfers who struggle in soft or fluffy sand
  • Anyone who wants one wedge for bunkers, pitches and full shots
  • Need more height and spin from tight lies and firm bunkers? That's THE SURGEON™ 6109 (61°, 9° bounce).

Designed by a Tour winner

Gabe won twice on the PGA Tour, played the Masters three times and has coached Tour players on the short game since 2009. THE SURGEON™ was inspired by Gabe's experience of the tight lies and fast greens at Augusta National. The 5612 brings that design to the loft most golfers reach for first.

Built for when it counts

Elite golfers don't rank their clubs. The driver is important, the wedge is important, the putter is important. Your wedges are scoring clubs, and they have to perform exactly when they're needed. THE SURGEON™ is forged, CNC-milled and built to order for you, to the highest quality possible for a golf club.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best wedge for chipping into the grain?

A wedge with more bounce, so the sole glides through the grass instead of the leading edge grabbing. THE SURGEON™ 5612 has 12° of bounce, which is what makes it bust through the grain.

What is the best wedge for Bermuda grass?

Bermuda is grainy, so you want bounce. The 5612's 12° sole skids through the grain and forgives a slightly heavy strike, which is why it's the wedge Gabe recommends for most golfers on Bermuda.

What loft is the 5612?

56° loft with 12° of bounce as standard. We can build it from 53° to 59°. Add the loft you want in the order note.

Do I need the 6109 as well?

Gabe's advice is to carry both. The 5612 handles grainy lies, soft sand and full shots; THE SURGEON™ 6109 (61°, 9° bounce) stops the ball and gets bunker shots up high. Buy the pair together and you save $100 automatically at checkout. See THE SURGEON™ Specs.

Is it legal for tournament play?

Yes. The 5612 is USGA conforming.

Can I get it left-handed?

Yes. Choose “Left Handed” as the head option.

How long does delivery take?

Free standard US shipping (7–9 days), Express $14.99 (3–4 days), Overnight $29.99. Each wedge is assembled to order, so allow a little extra build time for custom specs.
